Mr. Hemadri is a general surgeon; one of his special interests is day case and short stay surgery. He has played a significant part in introducing award winning services such as the single visit model for day case surgery and laser haemorrhoidectomy. These are notable innovations which have transformed the way patients are dealt with at Goole Hospital. He favours the use of local anaesthetic as the primary mode of anaesthesia wherever possible.
The improvements have resulted in our teams winning the local Health and Social Care Awards at Hull in 2008 for Service Transformation. Mr. Hemadri has held the Leaders for Change award from the Health Foundation in 2007 and has been noted as a "Hidden Hero of the NHS"™ by the BMA. He has considerable training and experience in clinical quality and patient safety improvement.
Laser Haemorrhoidectomy is a procedure done for large piles needing surgical removal (grade 3 or 4 haemorrhoids). It is done under simple local anaesthesia with additional mild to moderate sedation. After this procedure our patients are able to walk away within 2 hours. This procedure is an especial feature of Goole Hospital and Yorkshire Laser Centre.
